Thorn in the SunThese 2 pictures were taken in a courtyard that was filled with random benches, flowers, and leaves. This was the perfect place to take nature pictures. I am unsure what the plant/flower is in the photo but I tried to capture the almost never ending layers within the plant. I wanted to try to send a message that everything has some complication to them and that you should never just look at something for a split second. Take a breath, and take in all the little details.

The Blurred Flare(Paint Dauns) |
Light LinesThese pictures were taken at The Lodge, a cabin owned by my church where we have youth group. This building has a very cool wooden handrail covered in snow(at the time). I wanted to show the idea that life can be long and hard, but it doesn't last forever. This is in the form that the snow represents the bumps in the road and life is represented by the hand rail. Its long, but it doesn't go on forever.

Red SpikesThis tree/plant gave a very interesting look in a photo. In my opinion, the tree looks like it has eyes and can see all. In addition, the red spikes are very vivid and stand out next to the very root natural colors and really gives the photo color. The story I wanted to share is the idea that there can always be color in the word no matter where you are.

I found this crushed red berry branch on a bench within the same courtyard as the first picture in this portfolio. I wanted to try and get a picture with light, texture, and color. Within both of these picture, I was able to do this. The texture comes from the "knot" in the wood. The color comes from the berries and the light is found in the background of the photo. I find that this photo is very interesting because the berry looks disgusting at first, but then you analyze the rest of the photo and the berry doesn't look squashed and instead it represents a pop of color within the photo.
A Fuzzy Spectrum of Color(Under Painting)These photos were taken at Belle Isle Conservatory in Detroit. These assortment of flowers was very interesting to me because of how the colors bopped off of each other. In addition, the sky was very blue with a few clouds in the sky, it looked very fake and animated. In these pictures, I wanted to convey the idea that in life, you can always find something beautiful.
