Open Horizon
Artist Statement:
Similar to the Glass Sphere assignment, this main background photo is from Rocky Mountain National Park. When editing the background photo I wanted a surreal feeling when you looked at it. I achieved this by making the background in a rich blue in contrast with the bright green and yellow of the foreground. However, when adding the black and white image, I wanted even more contrast in the frame. I specifically positioned the cityscape photo so the building was in the center of the triangle while still showing the rest of the image in the triangle. I wanted to achieve a portal feeling within the triangle and I feel I achieved that successfully.

Wild Walk
Artist Statement:
Like the previous photo and all the background photos in this series, the background photo is of Rocky Mountain National Park. For this photo, I wanted to use the triangle and other shapes in the center as an interrupter in the scene. This meant picking a city photo with lots of shine and bright colors to juxtapose the yellows and blues in the background photo. Editing the background was very difficult as I wanted to showcase the animals in frame without making them too overwhelming in the composition. I feel I accomplished this by making the blacks in the photo more prominent than usual in landscape photos. In turn, the shot has a magic feel to it as not only are the animals more in focus and feeling closer to you but the mountains in the background now seemingly tower over everything with the increase in blacks and shadows.

Fundamental Build
Artist Statement:
When editing this photo, I wanted the photo to scream escape and color. This was achieved by having high amounts of color saturation and exposure. The background photo, similar to the first photo in this series, has rich blues with the brighter yellows and greens up front. This aids in adding scale to the photo. However, when adding the city photo in the middle, I wanted the contrast of the brick building to really pop. I ended up boosting the red and orange in the photo to ensure it would stick out. The final image showcases this grand sense of scale within both pictures. One showing off the endless horizon and the other and endless sky.
